Wellness is about balance of the body, mind and soul. We tend to see these concepts as complex and far from the reality of day to day life, left only to achieve by those who live out of the ordinary lives. We excuse ourselves by admitting that our daily responsibilities do not leave us any time for ourselves and find forgiveness that it is a selfless sacrifice for a worthy reason be it family, work or charity.
Well we are here to tell you that it is all an excuse. Your wellbeing should not compete will your life, it should be in the center of it. By taking better care of ourselves, we become better persons: our body feels better, our mind is happier and more awake, and our soul is complete. This allows us to smile every day and approach life with a whole new meaning.
EAT WELL: It all begins with what you put into your body and it is in your control. What you makes you feel better and be stronger. And we are not looking for any lifelong abstinence commitments here but with the rist to sound repetitive, it is all about balance. A guilty pleasure will not kill you....unless you do it everyday. When you eat, look at the complete picture and not just the task at hand. When you are planning for dinner, look back and think about what you had for breakfast. Consider each day as one complete menu that should provide you with necessary nutrients to thrive while keeping your body clean and healthy.
EXCERCISE: Even if it seems impossible, try it once. If it was hard, then try again. You can be guaranteed that the any physical task you ask from your body, will get easier every time you perform it but it takes some discipline and consistency. Start slowly but make sure to push your body just a bit futher than you think it can go. Not everyone is built to run a marathon, keep to your strengths and interests and don't hurt yourself, but at the same time, be ambicious and set goals that are beyond what you have considered achievable in the past. Most of us sell ourselves short when it comes to excercise so it helps to find a fitness partner to challenge you.
ENJOY LIFE:Isn't that what it is all about! Hidden in the burdens of our daily responsibilities of work, family and our social life, we tend to forget to leave some space for that which we enjoy and makes us complete. Is it a book? a night out with friends? a weekend of camping? a fishing trip? You choose, it is whatever makes you happy and do not look for acceptance from others in measuring which activities make you complete? Find time for them and if you have forgotten, look back and remember what it was that made you happy? Forget guilt as an excuse not to enjoy life, you don't have to be selfish to do it. Look for ways to incorporate these tasks and goals into your daily life so that they are not seen as sacrifices that have to endured by those around you but as a vital part of who you are.
Take a second....breath....look at your life and decide to make it better....no, not tomorrow.....today! Hopefully the tools provided by Wellness Daily can help you achieve the goals you set for yourself, but if they don't or you have any suggestions, please let us know and we will always work to improve. |
